PsychogenX was created in collaboration with Bubble.io as a bio-psychiatric client evaluation tool to enable therapists to evaluate their patient's mental health by conducting objective tests like emotional control and stress tolerance. The platform helps in determining whether clients need assistance well in advance of a crisis, and it also aids in gauging the long-term effects of therapeutic intervention outside of the typical session setting.
The Problem
After the collapse of a previous venture-backed business, PsychogenX emerged. The entrepreneur became depressed and anxious when the previous startup failed. Heart rate variability allowed them to see the immediate physical manifestation of their internal emotional state. This prompted the question of why this wasn't more well-known and used in the field of psychotherapy.
The Product
Powered by Bubble.io, the team used an approach many developers would consider unconventional. By reversing the conventional order of things (user interface > logic), PsychogenX's team was able to focus on their strengths while still receiving assistance from Bubble on the challenging parts. Naturally, there were many areas of the project, and employing Bubble was significantly beyond the team’s expertise; however, incorporating some abstract implementation of Bubble with their native app and some sophisticated calculations and routines, the PsychogenX team accomplished their market-ready solution, which allows patients to access array services. The services include:
- Clients learn cognitive and emotional coping mechanisms in in-session therapy.
- The client collects and calculates Resting HRV using the PsychogenX Wellness App every morning.
- Analyzing a client's resting HRV to help provide insight into their ability to regulate their emotions and deal with stress in an everyday situation.
- By including PsychogenX in regular assessment and evaluation procedures, practitioners can better prepare clients and treatment sessions for real-world use.
Conclusion
Bubble offered PsychogenX the means to convert its idea into a successful product in a fraction of the time it would have otherwise taken. Since then, the software has served as an efficient dashboard for therapists to evaluate their clients' ability to regulate their emotions. They may either skim the surface to gain an overall picture or dig deeper to investigate and comprehend the changes in their patient's emotional state, enhancing the quality of life. This is one of the many success stories associated with Bubble’s cost-effective approach to reaching personal and organizational goals in a short amount of time.
